Members of our group participated in the FEBS Advanced Lecture Course “Biological Surfaces and Interfaces: Biointerfaces at Lipids, Proteins and Polymers”, held in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Spain, from 8 – 13 June 2025. The meeting brought together researchers from across Europe and beyond to discuss recent advances in the understanding of biological interfaces, biomolecular interactions, and nanobioengineering.
The participation of our group provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with leading scientists working at the intersection of colloid and interface science, biophysics, nanotechnology, and biology. The conference fostered interdisciplinary discussions on the interactions of proteins, nanoparticles, polymers, and biological membranes, as well as their relevance to biomedical and biotechnological applications.
A special distinction was the invited lecture delivered by Prof. Barbara Jachimska, entitled “Impact on Nanoparticles Biobehavior: Protein Corona Formation”. The presentation focused on the formation of the protein corona at the nano-bio interface and its impact on the biological identity and behavior of nanoparticles. The lecture highlighted the importance of understanding protein adsorption processes for the safe and effective design of nanomaterials intended for biological and medical applications.
